Author Marsha Forchuk Skrypuch Visits Saskatoon
Stolen Child: a young girl's moving story of one of the lesser-known injustices of WWII
April 21, 2010 -- (UCC-SPC inform) - The Saskatoon
branch of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress is pleased to present
an evening with award-winning author Marsha Forchuk Skrypuch, who
will introduce her latest book, Stolen Child, at a Book
Reading and Presentation early next month in Saskatoon.
Ms. Forchuk Skrypuch has become the pre-eminent children’s writer
on Canadian-Ukrainian history. In Stolen Child, she delivers
the moving story about 12-year-old Nadia Kravchuk, who has immigrated
with her parents to Canada. Nadia is a Lebensborn girl,
kidnapped for her “Aryan looks” by the Nazis in their frenzy to
build a master race. Her fierce determination to uncover her past
against incredible odds is revealed in this novel, which is written
for children ages 9-12. The book also brings to the attention of
readers one of the lesser-known horrors of Hitler’s racial obsession.
The public is cordially invited to the attend the Book Reading
and Presentation on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at St. Volodymyr Villa (3102
Louise Place) in Saskatoon. The event begins at 7:00 PM with free
admission and is made possible with the support of the Ukrainian
Canadian Congress – Saskatchewan Provincial Council and Saskatchewan
Lotteries.
The public is also invited to meet Ms. Forchuk Skrypuch at a Book
Signing on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 in the Art Alcove of McNally Robinson
