Saskatchewan-Ukraine Relations Advisory Committee Membership

New Members Appointed
March 26, 2009 -- Deputy Premier and Education
Minister Ken Krawetz and Provincial Secretary Wayne Elhard announced
the appointment of 10 Saskatchewan representatives to the Saskatchewan-Ukraine
Relations Advisory Committee today.
"Through this committee, we will be able to further explore
and promote relations between Saskatchewan and Ukraine," Krawetz
said. "The work that will be done by this committee will allow
us to strengthen business opportunities and cultural ties that promote
understanding and awareness in both countries, as well as maintain
and enhance the work around student exchanges in high school and
at the post secondary levels."
The committee members are:
- Gerald Luciuk, Regina
- Nadia Prokopchuk, Saskatoon
- Dr. Natalia Khanenko-Friesen, Saskatoon
- David Dutchak, Saskatoon
- Gerald Seniuk, Regina
- Mary-Anne Trischuk, Yorkton
- Edward Lysyk, Regina
- Alicia Klopoushak, Saskatoon
- James Shevchuk, North Battleford
- Fredrick D. Mantey, Regina
"Saskatchewan's Ukrainian community has played a significant
role in shaping our cultural heritage," Elhard said. "The
knowledge and experience of the committee members will help us identify
the best way to strengthen and expand our partnerships and strong
ties with the people of Ukraine."
The community-based committee, originally created in 1993, will
provide advice on government and private sector activities in Saskatchewan
and Ukraine to strengthen the civil society of Ukraine. They will
also monitor and make recommendations on the progress of the 1995
Saskatchewan-Ukraine Memorandum of Co-operation. The committee's
term runs until February 24, 2012.
