UCC Regina Branch to Host First Ukrainian Fall Fest
May 7, 2010 -- UCC Regina Branch is hosting its first
outdoor festival on Saturday, September 11, 2010. The event aims to
celebrate Ukrainian culture and recognize its people's contributions
to Canadian society at all levels. By providing a free event that
is open to the public, the Planning Committee anticipates that relationships
both among and between our Ukrainian Canadian community and the community
at large will be furthered.
To date, the capital city of our
province has not had a festival of this scope or nature. As such,
it seems most fitting that the event shall take place on the grounds
surrounding the Legislature Building in Wascana Park, Regina. Varied
forms of local entertainment are being planned, as well as cultural
activities and demonstrations throughout the day. Attendees should
bring lawn chairs for their seating comfort at the stage and teamsport
areas. The Ukrainian palate shall be satisfied with cultural festival
food and a beverage gardens (food, beverage, and souvenir items
are available for purchase).
In addition to these exciting entertaining activities and attractions,
our event intends to raise awareness of UCC-RB, (which is celebrating
its 70th anniversary this year), as well as the contributions of
its Member Organizations, currently totalling 19 organizations,
each with their own purpose, identity, and service. We have many
organizations and individuals that have contributed and continue
to make Regina, Saskatchewan, and Canada, a great place for our
Ukrainian community to call home. Special guests associated with
the Regina/area community are being invited to attend, as are the
local media.
The event seeks to connect Regina and area residents with the organizations
and their activities that currently exist. Organizational displays
and members will be available.
More information shall be posted on the Regina Branch and UCC-SPC
websites as it becomes available.
Should you wish to participate in the day, through providing entertainment,
activities, demonstrations, team sports, and/or Organizational/Business
Sponsorship, please contact:
