Employment Opportunity: Summer teaching position for 1 week in North Battleford

January 24, 2008 -- The Battleford's Ukrainian Cultural Council holds a Ukrainian Language and Culture Day Camp every summer for children 5-11 years old. Each year the camp operates around a specified theme that is determined by the teacher. Themes in the past have included a kazka, a specific season, a
region of Ukraine, etc. Components of reading, writing, drama and culture are key to the success of the program. The majority of the students do not speak Ukrainian; however, there has been a recent immigration of Ukrainian families to the area, which may result in some native speakers at the camp.

The Cultural Council is looking for one teacher and possibly one assistant for this camp. Rate of pay would correspond with education and experience. The range for teachers (with a teaching certificate) would be between $1100-$1400. The range for assistants (not required to have a teaching certificate) is from $700-$1000. A teacher's certificate is NOT required for the teaching position; however, previous teaching experience is a must. Accommodation and food would be provided by hosting the teachers with a local family. The camp will occur during the 3rd week of July. Dates are to be confirmed.

If you would like additional information, please email lbahri@shaw.ca or call (780) 416-8041. If you are submitting a letter and resume, please send it to by Saturday, March 1st.
