UCC Saskatchewan Welcomes "Ambulances for Ukraine" Project August 21, 2015 -- The Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Saskatchewan Provincial Council, Inc. welcomes today’s announcement by MD Ambulance that four ambulances from Canada are due to arrive in Kyiv, Ukraine next week. UCC Regina Project Fosters Greater Awareness of a Terrible Tragedy
On May 12, 2015, Deputy Premier Ken Krawetz joined Lieutenant Governor Vaughn Solomon Schofield, Regina Mayor Michael Fougere, and Ukrainian community members to officially dedicate a statue that will serve as a permanent reminder of the Holodomor – a man-made famine that devastated Ukraine during the early 1930s.

We have invited Saskatoon SPCA Executive Director Patricia Cameron to be our guest speaker. She will speak about SPCA in our community and how the funds raised at King of Kovbasa will be used.

Patricia Cameron, B.A., M.A., MBA came to work in animal welfare after more than 15 years in post-secondary education where she taught interpersonal and technical communication, as well as media studies and public relations. Her background includes management at SIAST and SAIT, and extensive experience in Human Resources and union negotiations. Formerly the executive director of the Calgary Humane Society, she is now fulfilling that role in her home town as executive director of Saskatoon SPCA. In addition to her work in animal welfare, she is a loving grandmother of five and pet parent of an adorable rescue pup, Suzie. In her spare time, she enjoys time with family and friends, writing and playing music.

John Stetch Benefit Concert: Ambulances to Ukraine (7:00 PM)

The Willows Golf and Country Club, Dreher Room (382 Cartwright St), Saskatoon

John Stetch (Stechishin), a renowned international jazz pianist, will be performing a benefit concert to support the "Ambulances to Ukraine" project. Proceeds will be used to purchase supplies and equipment for the ambulances recently sent to Ukraine by MD Ambulance (Saskatoon), Duck Mountain EMS (Kamsack) and Associated  Ambulance Services (Edmonton). The initiative was coordinated by community activist and philanthropist Dave Dutchak of MD Ambulance..

Tickets are $50 and a tax deductible receipt for $40 will be provided.

Tickets are available at the New Community Credit Union and at Werezak’s Pharmacy, as well as the UCC Saskatchewan office (cash or cheque only).

UCC Saskatoon and the Ukrainian National Federation - Saskatoon Branch are pleased to sponsor this event.
